Up North Combine Limited was founded in 1905 and is the largest racing pigeon organisation in Great Britain.
We provide racepoints, logistics, racegoods and training to all the pigeon fanciers affiliated to the Up North Combine
We are governed by the North of England Homing Union (NEHU).
We adhere strictly to the RPRA, DEFRA , APHA & DVSA rules and guidelines, this is a MUST … not only for our members … but for our main customers … the fabulous racing pigeons themselves.
Pigeon History
Racing Pigeons have been recorded from as early as Ancient Egypt, where they were used as messenger birds to help message other cities and inform them of coming floods.
Throughout the years they continued to be used as messenger birds, and were called “The Kings Angels” in the Arab World and were held in very high esteem.
Throughout the 1800s the French used pigeons as a postal service which would soon be expanded to send messages from Paris to London.
In the Late nineteenth century the British Royal Family began to keep pigeons and by the early 1900’s, Pigeon Racing had become a sport for the masses. HRH The Queen has her own royal pigeon loft, mostly racing pigeons and a few breeding stock, she is also a patron of several Racing Pigeon societies.
